Cynthia received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Over the last twenty years she has lived, worked and exhibited her work in Chicago, Paris, Toronto, New York, London and now St Martin.
Her current work includes portraits that are recreations of family photographs taken during the North American Civil War, as well as classic still life paintings and landscape.
In portraiture, whether through photos or natural subjects, she relates to the emotion of the subject by finding their colors. She combines what I know about the subject and that which she can see to capture a feeling or an expression. Portraits, still life, landscape all have the challenge of recreating physical beauty while capturing the emotion within.
