DAILY HERALD – JUNE 24 - 2005-05-15
On June 27, pain twill be all around at Bliss in Caravanserai Resort
! At least 15 artists will be showing of their colours at stands and by
making art on the spot.
Patrick Poivre de La Fréta, Armelle Erb and Sylvie Sarrat-Gropper
will paint four models, who will be walking around as soon as they are
covered from top to toe. According to Patrick, the trio for the night
– all skilled artists with theatre make up will give the models
a “full body painting”.
The three of them will work on one model at the same time, profiting from
different specialties. Patrick confessed that he is especially good in
“messy” painting, while the others are more into detailed
work, fine lines and colourful art. Armelle, he explained, had worked
a lot for French shows and is a real makeup artist, while he and Sylvie
are painters. Together, they will surprise you in a way you did not expect,
he promised.
All artists will also create two paintings during the evening –
LIVE ! These will be auctioned around 9:30 pm, after dinnertime, to help
the Red Cross raise funds. Since painting together is a first itme experiment
for the artists, they expect it to be quite exciting to see how their
different styles blend together. How do you line up 15 totally different
personalities all of them wielding a paintbrush ? Must be a groovy experience.
Another nice treat is that artist Emma McCallum will paint portraits of
people for free, so you can leave with a souvenir of the night !
“It’s going to be a big performance, a big show”, said
Clement Suaval, the organiser from the Bliss. With about 150 paintings
hanging all around Bliss; the place is going to look very colourful. The
artists will also have stands where you can buy their work.
There will not only be paintings hanging around, but artists doing craftwork,
as well as making ceramics and sculptures, will also be present.
Paul Thuleau of the Art Lovers Foundation explained that he is looking
forward to step out of his workplace and meet the public. “The last
happening was the “Visiting the artist” event and artists
opening their houses for the general public. Now, we will take the first
step ourselves and come out”. He explained that he is more a Happening
in the spirit of the 70’s when artists used to go to the public.
He is especially looking forward to working on the the spot with the others.
“That must be fun”, he said.
Check out how the two worlds, of art and entertainment meet at Bliss coming
Sunday.

| ST-MARTIN’S WEEK, VENDREDI 2 JUILLET 2004
pris. Cette soirée était une très bonne idée,
et le public s’était déplacé. Nous avons eu
plus de 500 personnes. »
