Art Lovers, art and artists in Saint-Martin/Sint-Maarten Island, Caribbean

Pour cette deuxième édition, une soixantaine d'artistes, peintres, sculpteurs, photographes et céramistes ouvraient les portes de leurs ateliers et galeries, répartis sur 32 sites, dont plusieurs nouveaux : Les Boucaniers, Graffiti, Le Pure, le California, ArtPlus, la Petite Favorite, le Oualichi etc...Le vernissage a eu lieu le vendredi 18 mars au Musée, où tous les artistes étaient présents avec une de leurs oeuvres.
Largement ouvert pendant le week-end, le Musée a ainsi contribué à l'information des visiteurs. Cette année, la carte était présente sous la forme d'une vraie carte de poche, distribuée dans les hotels, l'office du tourisme, et un peu partout sur l'île, afin de renseigner les touristes sur les artistes, ateliers et galeries de Saint-Martin tout au long de l'année. Dimanche 20 mars, les artistes se sont retrouvés au Pure pour un pot de clôture et faire le bilan du week-end :
un public de qualité, des ventes et des contacts, et déjà presque une tradition: le premier week-end du printemps consacré à la vie artistique à St-Martin.

For this second edition, some sixty artists have opened the doors to their studios and galleries : painters, sculptors, photographers and ceramists spread over 32 different places of exhibition among which new, or unusual ones.
The opening party took place Friday the 18th of March, at the Museum of Arawaks in Marigot, where every artist displayed one piece of his art.
Opened all week-end through, the Museum therefore widly contributed to giving information to visitors.
The association printed a pocket maps which is distributed at the Museum, the hotels, the Tourism Office, and many shops and galleries all around the island. By spotting every studio, gallery, and place of exhibition, this map will help all year through tourists and « artlovers » into finding their way on artistic St Martin/St Maarten.
On Sunday the 20th of March, all artists met to take stock about the week end : a positive and cheerfull reunion revealing a positive event to all, with interesting visitors, sales and first contacts for some, and settling a new tradition… the first spring week end dedicated to the artistic life in St Martin !
